Houston food trucks, restaurants to compete in 3rd annual Curry Crawl on May 18

The 3rd Annual Curry Crawl returns on Sunday, May 18th from 5-8 p.m. Hosted by Chef John Sikhattana of STRAITS (800 Sorella Court) and held at his restaurant in CITYCENTRE, this year’s line up of 10 competing food trucks and restaurants represent the best in culinary creativity and a variety of cultures and flavors.

The signature event raises money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's 'Man and Woman of the Year' campaign (Fleming's operating partner Sam Governale and KPRC producer Amber Willis) and their efforts to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

The afternoon event will be take place throughout the restaurant and panoramic patio, with outdoor views of CITYCENTRE plaza. Guest will enjoy unlimited tastings of exquisite bites infused with Curry, flavorful wines, craft beer, Bloody Mary bar, and hand-crafted cocktails, which are included in the ticket price ($55).

Food trucks will shift the competition into high gear as they compete for the Grand Prize, Best Presentation and People’s Choice awards. Kaitlin Steinberg, food editor of the Houston Press, Katherine Whaley, anchor with KHOU-Ch.11, Taylor Byrne Dodge, editor of My Table Magazine, Greg Morago, food editor of the Houston Chronicle, and Mai Pham, freelance food writer -- will be tasked with judging a fusion of different bites, while “People’s Choice” will be determined by guest votes.

Guests will cool down with beverages sponsored by Grey Goose, No Label Beer, La Marca Wines, and Evamor artesian water. The event will also feature a variety of musical entertainment including Lion Dancers of Houston.

Offers up an inventive blend of Korean-inspired tacos, quesadillas and burritos

· Matthew Pak of The Golden Grill (food truck)
A gourmet mobile grilled cheese restaurant serving all the classics

· Angie Dang of Les Ba’get (food truck)
Serving some of the most intriguing Vietnamese food to the streets of Houston

· Nathan Chang with OhMyGogi! (food truck)
Serving Korean BBQ/Mexican Fusion food

· Adrian de la Cerda of Ladybird (food truck)
Serves tasty food inspired by familiar favorites

· Pak Tsui of Fat Bao (restaurant)
Simple Asian fusion joint offering steamed buns stuffed with meat, fish, vegetables or sweets

· Seth Greenburg of Springbok (restaurant)
Soon-to-be-open South African pub specializing in the diversity of Southern Hemisphere cuisine

· Don Schoenburg of Gastro Punk (food truck)
Street food with a south Texas twist

Proceeds from the event will benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
